Faculty Position– Internal Medicine Resident Outpatient Practice
Division Description: The Division of General Medicine, Geriatrics and Hospital Medicine is recruiting a clinical educator to precept Internal Medicine residents and medical students at Stony Brook Primary Care Center. The clinical practice is a robust NCQA-Level 3 Patient- Centered Medical Home. Located in beautiful Suffolk County, Long Island, NY, the Stony Brook Primary Care Center serves as the site for a continuity primary care outpatient experience for internal medicine residents and geriatric medicine fellows and a primary care block rotation for medical students. Stony Brook University has established itself as one of America’s most dynamic public universities, a center of academic excellence and leader in health education, patient care and research. With 603 beds, Stony Brook Hospital is the region’s only tertiary care center and Regional Trauma Center.
Required Qualifications: MD or equivalent, Board Certified in Internal Medicine, experience teaching internal medicine residents and/or students in the outpatient setting. Must have New York State Medical License or be eligible to receive one.
Preferred Qualifications: General Medicine or Geriatric Medicine Fellowship or MPH
Responsibilities and Requirements: This individual will enhance the Patient-Centered Medical Home and Primary Care curriculum and training experience for medical students and Internal Medicine residents, oversee clinical care provided by medical house staff, participate in quality improvement projects and deliver some urgent care to patients in the practice.
Special Notes: This is a Clinical Educator Track Position that comes with a faculty appointment in the Stony Brook School of Medicine. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated start date: March 1, 2019-July 1, 2019. Competitive salary commensurate with experience and academic rank.
